Skylake Lighting System - DIY Kit

LED Lighting for Bambulab Printers

$65.00

Time to upgrade your printer’s stock LED—or your current setup that needs a separate power supply and manual on/off switching. The Skylake Lighting System is an all-in-one solution powered through the Bambu AMS port. A sense cable connects to the stock LED header so the system turns on and off with the printer’s usual controls, both in-app and on-screen. Because the sensing circuit is purely analog, firmware updates can’t break it. And since the LEDs are powered by the Broadcast Board rather than the stock LED circuit, you can install brighter strips than a simple LED swap would allow.

Hardware

At the core is the Skylake Labs Broadcast Board, the same platform that will power upcoming products like the Skylake Labs Timelapse System. The custom PCB features an ESP32-C3 microcontroller, Texas Instruments power regulation, logic-level shifters for LED communication, and an isolated sensing circuit that keeps the stock LED line electrically separate. Included enclosures are printed with fire resistant filament (PC or PETG V0 flame retardancy).

Configuration

The DIY Kit ships with BTF Lighting LEDs plus all the wiring you’ll need. Simply cut each lead to length, strip, and solder, then plug everything in. Feel free to use any LED riser, or download the Skylake version from MakerWorld or Thangs. (The Skylake riser has a built-in channel for the sense cable; if you choose another riser, just route the cable to the stock LED header and tuck it out of sight.)

Combo vs. Modular Enclosure

To power the system from the AMS port while still powering your AMS unit, you’ll need the AMS power splitter.

The Combo option integrates the Broadcast Board and AMS power splitter into a single enclosure and only requires one additional 4-wire AMS cable.

The Modular option separates the Broadcast Board and AMS splitter into their own enclosures, requiring two additional 4-wire AMS cables.

Not using an AMS unit? Choose the Modular option for a more low-profile install—and keep the included power splitter and enclosure on hand in case you add one later.

Firmware

Each unit ships with WLED, the open-source LED-controller firmware that supports a wide range of strips. For details, see the WLED documentation.

Friendly Reminder

The Skylake Lighting System has logged hundreds of trouble-free hours in testing and is designed for straightforward installation. Because every printer setup is unique, adding third-party hardware could affect your original warranty. Follow the included diagrams and double-check each connection before powering up, and you’ll be all set. If you run into any issues during installation, just reach out—we’re here to help.
