Skylake Lighting System - Snapmaker U1

Give your Snapmaker U1 an OEM-plus lighting upgrade with brighter, fully customizable illumination without soldering, adding a separate power supply, or installing a manual switch. The complete solder-free kit includes the PCB, LED strips, and splitter cable to power the system through the printer’s top-cover port without sacrificing top cover functionality.

The open-source WLED integration allows the Skylake lights to follow the stock cavity-light switch, both on-screen and in the Snapmaker app. WLED also gives you control over brightness, colors, effects, and presets. For offline printers or a redundant connection, install the optional sense cable to retain direct control through the printer no matter the network conditions.

Hardware

At the core is the Skylake Labs Broadcast Board. The custom PCB features an ESP32-C3 microcontroller, Texas Instruments power regulation, logic-level shifters for LED communication, and an isolated sensing circuit that keeps the stock LED line electrically separate. A dedicated MOSFET circuit switches off power to the entire LED strip when it is turned off.

Configuration

Solder Free Kit: Every wire is pre-cut and pre-soldered, so it’s truly plug-and-play. Refer to the LED tab and select your printer to see the step by step installation instructions. 

Firmware

Each unit ships with WLED, the open-source LED-controller firmware that supports a wide range of strips. For details, see the WLED documentation.
